Work with Jimmy
Build thoughtful interfaces. Make development easier.
I’m Jimmy, a senior frontend engineer focused on React, design systems, and helping teams build software that’s easier to use, maintain, and improve.
I work across the details people see and the foundations developers rely on — from customer-facing experiences to reusable components, frontend architecture, and AI-assisted development workflows.
Hey, I’m Jimmy.
I’m a frontend engineer based in Ontario, Canada, and the person behind Everyday Programmer.
I enjoy figuring out how things fit together: how an interface should behave, where state should live, what belongs in a shared component, and how to make the next feature a little easier to build.
My work has included leading a design system, building checkout experiences, improving product applications, and developing marketing websites. I care about the visual details, but I also care about what happens after launch — when someone needs to debug a problem, change a requirement, or build on what’s already there.
I created Everyday Programmer to share that side of engineering: the decisions, trade-offs, and everyday problems we work through while building real software.

Ways I can help
What I bring to a team
Frontend development and architecture
Building React and Next.js applications with clear component boundaries, sensible state management, and attention to performance, accessibility, and maintainability.
Design systems and shared components
Creating reusable components, design tokens, documentation, and testing practices that help teams build consistent interfaces without solving the same problems repeatedly.
Improving existing applications
Working through complicated components, inconsistent UI patterns, and development friction. Finding practical improvements that make the application easier to work on as it grows.
AI-assisted engineering workflows
Using coding agents to support research, implementation, and testing, with clear requirements and verification built into the process. Especially interested in how teams can move faster while keeping confidence in what they ship.
Experience
Some of the work I’ve done
Over the past decade, I’ve worked across SaaS, automotive, telecom, travel, and agency projects. A few examples of what that’s looked like:
Design systems that support multiple teams
I’ve built and expanded shared React and TypeScript component libraries, bringing together design tokens, theming, documentation, accessibility patterns, and visual testing. The goal: make consistent interfaces easier to build and maintain.
AI tools for marketers
I led frontend development for a conversational content generator and a campaign editor with predictive features, turning complex functionality into interfaces marketers could work with day to day.
Checkout and online purchasing
I’ve built guest checkout that removed the need to create an account before purchasing, delivered a payments module for an automotive launch, and contributed to vehicle configuration and online purchase experiences.
Modernizing existing applications
I’ve led migrations from jQuery and Knockout to React and TypeScript, and helped rebuild a live-chat product with React and Redux. That work involved untangling existing behaviour, creating reusable components, and making application state easier to manage.
Travel websites and business tools
I’ve built responsive travel websites across multiple brands and developed custom e-commerce tools — including a print-order workflow that replaced manual spreadsheet work.
Across these projects, the common thread has been making the experience clearer for users and the code easier for the next developer to work with.
How I work
Thoughtful decisions. Practical implementation.
I like understanding the problem before choosing the tools. Sometimes that means creating a reusable foundation. Sometimes it means keeping the solution small and getting a useful improvement out the door.
I care about clear communication, working closely with design and product, and leaving code that another developer can understand.
AI is part of my workflow, and I take responsibility for reviewing, testing, and understanding the result.
Writing code faster is useful. Knowing it does what we need is essential.
A little more personal
Outside of engineering, I’m usually spending time with my wife and son, playing video games, watching a movie, cooking, or investigating another piece of tech I probably don’t need. Our three cats provide regular supervision.
Have something you’d like to work on together?
If you’re looking for a senior frontend engineer, need help with a design system, or have an application that could use a clearer foundation, I’d be happy to hear about it.
